Christian Counseling

"Christian Counseling" is advertised and propagated by people with a wide variety of levels of training, competency and even beliefs and practices. So it means different things to different people.

Dr. Blake is a devout Christian with an extensive knowledge of the Bible and a strong commitment to Christian principles of living and serving. He combines this with his formal counselor education and training and his experience as a counselor to help people from various backgrounds overcome their problems and find greater satisfaction with their lives.

Your faith background will be highly respected, encouraged and even enhanced.
You will not be embarrassed to express your faith nor to refer to your beliefs as a basis for personal behavior.
You will not be pressured to engage in activities that go against your belief system.
You will be accepted with warmth, dignity, kindness and respect regardless of where you are in your Christian walk; you will be neither judged nor condemned.
Your counselor will have a strong understanding of the spiritual bases for your difficulties and will greatly value the application of Biblical principles and Christian values to your life, but he will not preach to you nor use his position to "force religion down your throat."
The counseling process will include a well thought out combination of acceptable general counseling approaches, techniques, theories and practices with appropriate Biblical directives.
To the best of his ability, but with the knowledge that he too is continually in need of the Grace of God, your counselor will model Christian values in his own personal life.
Your counselor believes in prayer and will often privately seek Gods' guidance in his work with you and God's blessing for you to help you face and overcome the challenges in your life.
