QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"I think a man and a woman should choose each other for life, for the simple reason that a long life with all its accidents is barely enough time for a man and a woman to understand each other."

- William Butler Yeats

Learn to play the piano by ear I took piano lessons on and off for brief periods of my childhood, but never really got the hang of it. So... I gave up. As a senior adult, I finally made a commitment to learn to play, but by ear - no more of those once-a-week lessons, red books, blue books, etc.. After searching out numerous resources, I selected the materials of Matthew Stephens of West Plains, Missouri. If you have always wanted to play the piano, but for one reason or another put it off, I highly recommend these materials and the man who developed them. GDB

Christian Counseling

"Christian Counseling" is advertised and propagated by people with a wide variety of levels of training, competency and even beliefs and practices. So it means different things to different people.

Dr. Blake is a devout Christian with an extensive knowledge of the Bible and a strong commitment to Christian principles of living and serving. He combines this with his formal counselor education and training and his experience as a counselor to help people from various backgrounds overcome their problems and find greater satisfaction with their lives.

There are eight things that Christian clients can be assured of with Dr. Blake.

  • Your faith background will be highly respected, encouraged and even enhanced.
  • You will not be embarrassed to express your faith nor to refer to your beliefs as a basis for personal behavior.
  • You will not be pressured to engage in activities that go against your belief system.
  • You will be accepted with warmth, dignity, kindness and respect regardless of where you are in your Christian walk; you will be neither judged nor condemned.
  • Your counselor will have a strong understanding of the spiritual bases for your difficulties and will greatly value the application of Biblical principles and Christian values to your life, but he will not preach to you nor use his position to "force religion down your throat."
  • The counseling process will include a well thought out combination of acceptable general counseling approaches, techniques, theories and practices with appropriate Biblical directives.
  • To the best of his ability, but with the knowledge that he too is continually in need of the Grace of God, your counselor will model Christian values in his own personal life.
  • Your counselor believes in prayer and will often privately seek Gods' guidance in his work with you and God's blessing for you to help you face and overcome the challenges in your life.

If you are a Christian and have been putting off getting professional help, call or send email today for an appointment.
